2 Lashkar-e-Toiba militants killed Shopian gunfights: Police | KNO

Srinagar, May 12 (KNO) : Two Lashkar-e-Toiba militants were killed in an encounter with government forces at Shopian today, police told KNO. The gunfight started in the wee hours, police told KNO and in the ensuing gunfight, two militants were killed. Police said that the two killed militants have been identified as Javid Ahmad Bhat of Redwani Kulgam and Adil Bashir Wani of Waripora D.H Pora Kulgam. According to the police records, both the killed militants were affiliated with proscribed outfit LeT. They were wanted by law for their complicity in a series of terror crimes including attack on security establishments and civilian atrocities. Several terror crime cases were registered against them. According to police records Javid had a long history of terror crime records and series of terror crime cases were registered against him for planning & executing terror attacks in the area. He was also responsible for recruiting youth from adjoining areas of Kulgam to join proscribed terror outfits. Similarly, Adil Bashir was also involved in several  attacks and several crime cases were registered against him. Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition was recovered from the site of encounter. All these materials have been taken in the case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror crime cases. Citizens are once again requested not to venture inside the encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials. People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosives materials if any.(KNO)
